YouTube video of TV News reports covering the 2004 bear referendum to ban the hunting of Maine black bears with the use of bait, hounds and traps

Excellent selection of television news report clips that documents the 2004 bear referendum

In early 2003 Robert Fisk, Jr. went to Washington, DC twice to encourage The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to support a referendum in Maine to ban the hunting of Maine black bears with the use of bait, hounds and traps. Maine Citizens for Fair Bear Hunting (MCFBH) was formed by the HSUS and Fund for Animals in May 2003 with MFOA’s office serving as campaign headquarters for two years, served as campaign chairman, debater and spokesperson. In May 2004 MCFBH, mostly MFOA members, collected a record 103,251 signatures of registered voters, twice the needed 50,711 to put the question on the 2004 ballot. This YouTube video is a collection of 24 short TV news report clips and 5 TV ads throughout 2004 that documents the referendum through the eyes of the media.
